Coola Baby SPF50 Mineral Sunscreen Review
Thursday, June 14, 2018
We all know that the sun can be very damaging so now that the summer is fast approaching I wanted a sunscreen for Astrid.
The first 6 months you shouldn’t use any sunscreen and you should avoid direct sunlight at peak hours. It is beneficial foto them to be out in the daylight though!
Now that Astrid is over a year old I wanted a physical sunscreen to protect her. Most adult sunscreens are chemical which means they absorb quickly and you don’t get that white cast but when they’re babies it’s much better to use a physical sunblock.
I went to my local pharmacy, Farmacia Alejandra Alonso Álvarez, and they recommended this mineral sunscreen by the New Zealand brand Coola.
It provides SPF50 protection thanks to the Zinc Oxide and the Titanium Dioxide in its ingredients and is suitable for babies over 6 months.
It has been tested by pediatricians and is water resistant for 80 minutes. It can be used all over the body and needs to be reapplied every two hours.
Most of the ingredients are organic and it doesn’t contain parabens, preservatives or fragrance. It’s even reef safe, something I find important ever since we went to Mexico and discovered that most sunscreens were destroying the reef and marine life!
The sunscreen is a white cream which is hydrating on the skin and comfortable to wear. As it’s a physical sunscreen it is a little difficult to spread and you do get some white cast on the skin, but that is to be expected.
Overall it’s a gentle sunscreen for babies over 6 months providing high protection with its almost completely natural formula.
What sunscreen do you use on your children?
