Mama Mío Pregnancy Saviours Kit Review

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Our bodies change a lot during pregnancy, and one of our main fears are the dreaded stretch marks. Today I'm going to show you a great kit with some essentials for the pregnant woman.

Stretch marks and other issues of the sort are more related to the elasticity of your skin and genetics than anything else, but if you keep your skin moisturized you're more likely to get fewer stretch marks or they won't look as severe.

I started using an oil almost at the beginning of the pregnancy but when my belly started to get noticeably bigger I decided to treat myself to this complete set my Mama Mio.

Mama Mio is the first premium pregnancy skincare range, created with clean and safe ingredients to elasticize, nourish, calm and protect the rapidly-changing skin. It's even supposed to be a favourite of stars such as Kate Middleton, Kim Kardashian and Penelope Cruz. I had tried some of their products from the Mio line, for fitness, so I couldn't wait to give their pregnancy line a go!
Packaging
I have to say that the design could look a little more premium than it does, the choice of colours and lettering seems to fit the fitness range better than the pregnancy range, but this is just a matter of taste.

The Boob Tube and Lucky Legs come with a handy pump which I love, whereas the Tummy Rub butter is a jar. I don't like having to dip my fingers in as much but this is the usual packaging style for this type of product.
The other product is a spray and works perfectly, so the whole range has practical although not very exciting packaging.
Pregnancy Boob Tube
This bust protection cream is designed for the chest area and helps reduce sagging and stretch marks as well as leaving the skin hydrated and glowy.

The cream contains organic shea butter and omega oils and antioxidants to help keep the skin moisturized and firm as well as preventing wrinkles and stretch marks.
A curious ingredient is cabbage leaf extract to reduce swelling and discomfort and I have to say it definitely feels soothing!

It's free from parabens, mineral oil, artificial colourants, phthalates, petrolatum, xenoestrogens, PEGs and glycols and it's suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I think this is essential as you'll want to carry on applying this cream after birth which is when the bust grows the largest.

The cream has a light texture so it absorbs quickly but it is noticeably rich and leaves the skin plump and soft after. It doesn't feel sticky so you don't have to wait around long which is great.
It has a lovely fresh scent and I'm applying it daily all over décolleté and bust area.
The Tummy Rub Butter
This is the main reason why I picked up this kit, to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks during my pregnancy.

It's a rich butter which contains organic oils (including avocado, rosehip, organ and sweet almond) to help elasticity; shae butter to moisturize the skin; omega 3, 6 and 9 essential oils to strengthen skin and reduce itchiness and coconut oil which boosts the immune system as well as hydrating deeply.
These ingredients will increase collagen production, hydrate the skin and improve circulation to help avoid nasty stretch marks.

It's also free from parabens, colourants, xenoestrogens, PEGs, petrolatum, glycols and phthalates and it safe to use with all skin types during pregnancy and nursing.

This butter is thicker than the boob cream, it's lightly whipped but absorbs quite quickly and leaves the tummy feeling refreshed and smooth.
It has a fresh citrus fragrance and I have noticed that when I use it my belly isn't as itchy as when I was using an oil.

You're supposed to use it twice a day and continue its use at least 4 month post-pregnancy, which I intend to do, although I'm happy to report that at almost 38 weeks I haven't got a single stretch mark yet!
Lucky Legs
One of the common ailments during pregnancy are swollen legs and feet, and I have to say that even though I've had a wonderful pregnancy I definitely suffer from this. When I take my socks off my ankles are deeply marked and a lot of my shoes a too small for me.

Lucky Legs has been a great gift in this set. It contains a blend of essential oils, including organic coconut, tangerine, spearmint, lavender, chamomile, arnica and hydrating murmuru seed butter.
The ingredients are organic and safe to use during pregnancy whilst being free of parabens, petrolatum, xenoestrogens, artificial colourants, PEGs, phthalates and gycols.

I have to admit that my legs are so puffy at the end of the day that I don't notice an immediate magical result, but it feels really refreshing and definitely invigorates my tired legs and feet. The tube comes with a handy pump so it's easy to apply and I've been enjoying my foot massages by my husband!
Liquid Yoga Space Spray
I really love this type of product because it helps to create a calm and relaxing environment to relieve stress and help you chill out. You can spray it on your pillows to help you sleep, as a room spray to create a calming environment or on your pulse points to relieve stress.

It is an oil-infused mist from the Mio range which blends lavender and lavandin to create that calming fragrance, cypress to rebalance you, chamomile to raise spirits and lemon to help concentration. It's free from parabens, petrolatum, phthalates and artificial colourants.

It's has a noticeable lavender fragrance which I instantly associate with calming sprays, but take that into account if you don't like strong fragrances. My husband hates it for example! I'll be packing this in my hospital bag to help me create a calming environment during labour!
Overall
This is an absolutely wonderful set for the pregnant woman, it's a luxurious set of products which have been carefully selected. You can pick it up at John Lewis for £38.80 and if you're thinking of buying this for a friend or family member I'm sure they'll be eternally grateful.

I'll certainly repurchase any of the products if I run out of them soon, and as they're safe to use while nursing I will carry on using them after giving birth! As I mentioned before I am now almost 38 weeks pregnant and I haven't got a single mark anywhere on my body so I'm very happy!

Have you ever tried a calming spray like the one included in this set?
