Five MAC Lipsticks for Autumn
Sunday, November 09, 2014
Today I thought I would show you a selection of my five favourite MAC lipsticks for autumn. I would have included a couple more but they're limited edition and I don't want to show you something that's difficult to buy. Take a look at my selection...
THE DARKS
I think most of us reserve our dark vampy lipsticks for autumn and winter and I have selected two very well-known MAC heroes for this autumn:
- Diva: the name was very well chosen for this red burgundy as it makes you feel like a sumptuous diva. It's quite dark on the lips and has a matte finish so it will give you a sophisticated look. You can pat it lightly for a stained lip effect.
- Rebel: a true MAC fan must have this lipstick in their collection so I picked it up earlier this year to see what the fuss was about. It looks very dark in the tube but don't be put off, it's a dark berry on the lips. Its satin finish is one of my favourites by MAC as it's long-lasting but quite comfortable to wear.
THE NUDES
Autumn isn't only about dark vampy lips, I think it's also a great time for darker or pinker nudes which will go well with dark smokey looks. Here are my two go-to nudes for this season:
- Angel: this was the first MAC nude I bought, without trying it on first. It's a frosty medium pink which is quite flattering on most skin tones. You really can't go wrong with this shade but if you're not a fan of the frosty finish you can have a look at Creme Cup.
- Modesty: this isn't one of the most well-known MAC shades but I enjoy it very much. It's a sophisticated muted dark pink and although I use it almost all year round when I want a darker nude I love it for autumn. It's cremesheen finish gives it a creamy look and it's comfortable to wear.
THE RED
I had to include a red in my selection and I went for the of the most classic MAC lipsticks.
- RiRi Woo (Ruby Woo): the lipstick I have is actually the limited edition RiRi Woo but Ruby Woo is pretty much the same. This lipstick is the classic cool red and the retromatte finish will give you a no-shine fashionable look. The formula isn't my favourite as it's too dry for my lips but I can get around this by using some lip balm before.
